Since having made his first Café Jazz appearance as a solo piano artist, Alexander Douglas has gone on to win the Jazz Factor Artist Development Award for 2011 for his solo piano work in sacred jazz. Fresh from the Glasgow Jazz Festival, he returns to Cafe Jazz with the Sacred Jazz Project - an ensemble that will bring the worlds of gospel music and jazz together in his own inimitable manner. This promises to be another evening of beautiful, spiritual music. ADMISSION: £5.00/ £4.00 concessions. |

They perform everything from radically rearranged versions of Well You Needn’t and Maiden Voyage to originals and Zawinul classics. ![]() Jazz - bebop, hardbop, postbop Young Polish guitarist Arek Mazurek leads an energetic four piece presenting an eclectic and exciting mix of material, including arrangements of tunes by Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Ahmad Jamal and Thelonious Monk. Grounded in the swinging straight ahead style of jazz, they draw on rhythmic inspirations ranging from funk, reggae and world music. Arek leads on guitar and is supported by Mark Sambell on piano, Casper Hoedemaekers on bass and Mike Smith on drums. ADMISSION: £5.00 / £4.00 |
